Quantum Blackjack Live

Quantum Blackjack is a live blackjack game which you can play at various online bookmakers and casinos. You share the table with an unlimited number of players as only one players hand is. In fact, they’re only one of two software providers who dare try their hands at live casino tables with multipliers! When that article came up, we received a few requests to cover Quantum Blackjack in more detail. And you know us, dear readers. We have a hard time saying no to you! So, in this article, we’ll cover the basics of Quantum.

Quantum Blackjack is a game I’ve been eager to play since it’s launch late last year.

From Unclefester’s beautifully concise summary of Quantum Blackjack in the forum it was apparent that this game is a quantum leap from Playtech. Rather than following the lead, they’ve blazed a trail here.

An original concept, very well presented, appealing to play and offering players healthy returns to boot.

Chapeau.

What is Quantum Blackjack?

Quantum Blackjack takes a regular game of blackjack (same house rules as other Playtech blackjack tables) and adds 2 unique changes.

1. Multipliers

After bets are placed, 1, 2, or 3 cards are randomly identified as Quantum Multiplier cards and a random multiplier (3x, 5x or 10x) is applied to each. If your winning hand contains one of these cards, the payout is multiplied accordingly.

If your winning hand contains more than one of these cards, they multiply. So a payout multiple of 10x10x10 = 1000x is possible. It should be noted that identical multipliers, eg 7 and 7 count as one.

Shown above, multipliers A & J selected pre deal, and then J dealt on the table translates to a payout 5x normal if the hand wins. Had the A come out, the multiple would be 25x. Had another J come out, the multiplier remains 5x.

2. When dealer busts with 3 cards

Ordinarily you win in this case (assuming you haven’t busted). Not so in this game. A 3 card dealer bust leads to a pushed bet. That is, your bet is returned with no win payout.

The exception to this – you have a Quantum Multiplier in your hand, or Blackjack.

It’s also a 1 to many deal

One more important distinction from Playtech’s 7 seat live blackjack tables…this is a 1 to many deal table. Many players are playing the single deal on this table. Not that this effects the game outcome in any way because you still play your hand uniquely.

And the hand you are playing is clearly displayed in front of you by virtual cards rather than the actual cards dealt (which do a disappear/reappear trick as they are dealt to the player hand).

It’s reasonably seamless, much like Evolution’s Infinite Blackjack.

Unlike Infinite Blackjack, all cards dealt are collected after each round and added back into the shuffle machine which always contains 8 full decks before each new deal. This way, all cards selected as Quantum Multipliers are fully represented in the shoe each round.

One advantage of the 1 to many blackjack table format, and the many players it can cater to…low limits.

So it is with Quantum Blackjack. A €/£/$ 1 bet gets you into the main game.

And side bets are offered

21+3 and Pairs side bets are offered (but shouldn’t be taken…see RTP rates below). These are the same side bets offered on other Playtech blackjack tables and don’t need elaboration here, other than to say that side bet payouts are never multiplied.

Payouts summarised

This little slide out from the game UI pretty much gives you all the key detail you need.

A winning hand containing three 10x multipliers can pay up to 999:1 (your original bet is retained).

A winning Blackjack (can only contain 2 multipliers), can potentially produce payout 100x the normal 3:2. Again your original bet is retained, making for a max payout of 298:2…still not bad.

Theoretical Returns

One of the reasons this game is a ripper is that despite the added razzle dazzle, it offers stellar players returns. For the main game that is. But that’s the game that is most fun to play here.

Theoretical returns are as follows:

  • Main game: 99.47%
  • Pairs side bet: 95.90%
  • 21+3 side bet: 96.3%

Where to play Quantum Blackjack

Quantum Blackjack is a variant of live online blackjack made by Playtech and released in 2019. Combining several online blackjack concepts into one, it’s one of the most exciting and innovative new casino games. It has already reached massive popularity, but some players may still be asking – what is Quantum Blackjack, exactly, and how does Quantum Blackjack work?

Well, we would say it has two defining features. The first is that this is a variant of common draw blackjack. Essentially, this means that all players share a single hand. Of course, the decisions of all players are independent of each other. For instance, if you decide to stand and another player decides to hit, the dealer will keep putting down cards. The new cards are irrelevant to you, while the other player continues as usual. This applies to all the usual moves and side bets.

Blackjack

However, that’s not what makes Quantum Blackjack by Playtech special. The highlight is actually the multipliers. These take the format quite fitting to the good old game of 21. Every round, between 1 and 3 cards are randomly drawn from a separate deck and assigned multipliers. If one of your cards matches the multiplier cards, your winnings will be multiplied by the amount!

Game Rules and Features

The game shares a lot of advantages with other common draw blackjack types. For instance, you never have to worry about free seats because an infinite number of players can join. The game also moves at a very quick pace because the dealer only has one hand to worry about.

Beyond that, the rules are fairly standard. Cards are drawn from an 8-deck shoe and the dealer has to stand on a soft 17. The payments are all fairly usual as well. However, to counteract the increased profits multipliers offer, a few rules exist to nudge the odds in the house’s favour.

Some are more common, like the fact the dealer can peek a card if looking for a blackjack. The biggest drawback, however, is the fact that players push if the dealer busts with three cards. A three-card bust is fairly common in Playtech Quantum Blackjack, so don’t take this drawback lightly.

There are also two standard Quantum Blackjack side-bets. These are 21+3 and Perfect Pairs – both of which should be familiar to most players. The former uses the initial hand and the dealer’s up-card to form poker hands. The latter wins if the initial 2 cards form a Pair.

Payouts and RTP

The good part about these multipliers is that they can push your winnings into the stratosphere. For instance, you can hit several multipliers on the same hand with a bit of luck. These also stack multiplicatively. For example, if you get a 3x multiplier on one card and a 5x multiplier on another, they combine for a 15x return bonus. Considering the maximum multiplier is 10x, the bonus can go all the way up to 1,000x. You’d have to be insanely lucky, though.

Some players point out that even a single multiplier is hard to find. There’s some truth to that, but this feature is fairly well-balanced with the drawbacks. That’s why the RTP comes up to a decent 99.47%. The payouts are overall the usual fare – 3:2 for blackjack, 2 to 1 for insurance, and so on. Despite being common draw blackjack, the minimum wager is set at a fairly high €5. This variant usually offers a lower barrier for entry.

One way or another, the standout multiplier Quantum Blackjack feature is completely luck-based. We wouldn’t advise, for instance, hitting at riskier times in hopes of chasing down multipliers. Our only advice is to employ your usual blackjack strategy and hope that the stars line up.

That means that the best Quantum Blackjack strategy comes down to how good you are at classic blackjack. Also, both side bets have considerably smaller RTP rates than the main game. As such, we would advise staying away unless you’re confident you know what you’re doing.

Playtech Quantum Blackjack Summary

As you’ve read in our Quantum Blackjack review, there are quite a few upsides to this title. They come at a price, but that much is to be expected. It offers a nice alternative to the same-old classic online blackjack games with its exciting features.
